It depends on what revision your board is and what bios version
you have. Log onto the Abit website and you will find the answer to your
question.

It supports Slot1/Socket 370 P2's, Celeron's, P3's, Coppermine P3's, Coppermine Celeron 2's. (I think last I checked it supported up to the P3-700 but its been about 4 months since I've visited ABIT's site, so I'm positive it supports even higher speed procs)

not quite one of the newest boards. grab a new bios if you haven't and as everyone else has said, check the site. but do make sure you grab a bios update

Crash471, don't just go by what the Abit website says about the BH6. <opinion mode on> They're simply towing the Intel party line <opinion mode off>.

I went through this recently w/ my BH6 rev1.02, 450N3 MOS-FET's . After reading too many success stories on the abit newsgroup to think there was any common problem w/ P!!!'s or C2's I ended up going w/ an FC-PGA P!!!-650 OEM cB0, an Abit Slotket!!! and a Thermaltake Golden Orb HSF. I've been running this setup for two months+ now w/o a hiccup. I haven't tried o/c'ing yet, because I need to keep this thing stable. Check out [L]http://www.anomaly.org.au/bh6faq/[/L] and click on the link The MOS-FET Question for a discussion on the BH6 and current processors.

Yeah, my main machine is a BH6 v1.0 mobo. upgraded from a celeron 400 to a p3-300 coppermine (w/slocket converter). Currently overclocked to 672Mhz (112Mhz FSB). Works great and is very stable. I did have to download the latest bios, but that was pretty painless.

One other thing to consider: if you're going to go w/ a C2 or a P!!! flash your BIOS to the latest BIOS before you upgrade the processor. For the rev1.0x boards it's version SS, for the rev1.1 boards it's version SP (I think, since I can't get to Abit's BIOS d/l page - gawd what an awful site it can be at times).

I've got the same question, considering upgrading my CPU, on their webpage the SS BIOS updates so you can use a Celeron 700, the next latest BIOS update NV mentions support for P3-600, so if I wanted a 700 (not O/Ced) I'd have to go with a Celeron? I haven't read too much about CPU's lately, what is FC-PGA and how does it relate to this? will it run in a BH6 rev1.0?

A flip chip is Intel's latest version of a socket 370 type chip--your BH6 has a slot, not a socket, therefore you will need a slocket to put a flip chip in it. The BH6 will run a PIII 700, but you must get a slocket (MSI Master is a good one) and you should upgrade to the SS BIOS.

no performance difference by using Slotkets

i have heard however that when OC'ing you would need to increase the voltage more then say a cusl2 mobo which doesn't need a slotket. i don't know about how truthful that is, but i don't think there's any difference at all.

I loaded the SS BIOS on my REV 1.0 board and have 850(100) and 800(100) as options in my BIOS setup screen. I keep seeing that 700(100) is the highest supported speed, but these options exist in setup. Right now I'm running a PII 400.

The question is, if I get a SLOT1 PIII800, will it run in my BH6 REv 1.0??

Defector, I've seen numerous postings on the Abit newsgroup re BH6 boards successfully running P!!!'s up to 850MHz. This includes boards in the 1.0x revision series. Success seems to hinge partly on your choice of Slotket. I've seen mainly Abit Slotket!!! (latest revision), MSI (again, latest revision) and Asus as the slotkets of choice.
