Can you run 256 meg chips and/or more than the supposed 384 maximum on this board?

I'm using a 256MB chip fine on my BH6. I only have a 128MB chip paired with it so I can't tell you whether you can go over the 384MB limit or not.

I have ran 256MB on a BH6 no problems.

I would assume that you cannot go over the limit, if thats what it is.

Doods, maybe, a lot of the BH-6 boards were picky about their memory slots. Read that as a bad design on the board.

On my BH-6 I can't put memory into the first slot and have it work reliably. It does work with a 128 meg stick in the second and third slots. I have read of other people's boards not working with memory in the third slot. The only way to find out is to try it.

Right now I have 128meg sticks in both the second and third slots and it is working.

There are also differences in the way memory is organized. I don't think some high density memories will work with the BX chipset. I havn't checked into that so perhaps someone with more knowledge can clarify?

I'm planning to install Win2k Adv Server that's why I asked and it was pointed out to me I should get more memory. I have a 64 in the first and 128 in the second slot.

In my 2nd machine, I have 3-128 meg sticks running on the v.1 BIOS of the BH6.

No problems. Running with the latest BIOS update.
