Hi!

I have a p3 750 running on a abit BH6 with the latest bios (dates back a few years). I already have a 120gig drive on it and I would now like to add another drive (either 160 or 200GB). But I would like to know if the motherboard will accept it. I tried contacting abit and got no response so I figured maybe others had this motherboard and tried it. I don't really want to buy the drive and then find out I can't use it.

So does anyone know or even better tried it?
Thanks

I am still using the BH6, but I only have 2 80g hds in it, but since you already have a 120g working, I don't see a problem with going to either 160 or the 200. Now I believe you have to have SP2 installed to go to larger drives though.

Oh yeh, I have a slot converter from upgraceware and a tulatin 1.3 g processor running at 1.45, thats with 112 mhzFSB. Just in case you want get some more processor power without replacing your mobo.
Mine has been running rock solid for a longtime lol, mostly on 24/7.

You would need a PCI disk controller card, with an onboard BIOS, to support 48-bit LBA to use HDs larger than 128 GiB in size.
There are limited software workarounds, but that is the safest, easiest, way to deal with the issue. Plus, it should make your HDs faster (PCI IDE with ATA-100 or 133 interface; I think that your BH6 uses the older i440BX chipset, which only supported ATA-33 IDE interface speeds.)
