Abit BG7 & Corsair XMS3200

Hi,

I'm running a 512MB on the Abit BG7 mobo, but can't get it to run over
375Mhz. This stuff is supposed to be DDR400, so shouldn't it be able to
hit at least 400Mhz?

My settings are: 2.5-6-3-3 at 2.8v, FSB is at 150Mhz and the ratio is 4:5.
I've tried different permutations of timings and voltages but nothing works.
Could it need more voltage, and if so, is there any way to make the BG7 go
higher than 2.8v?

Thanks.

This is a pretty common problem when using the 845g with these speeds and corsair ram. A couple of things you can try. Check dimm slot #2, also try the OS without the intel INF's installed (although this will slow down your agp, it'll give you an idea if that's the problem or not).

Thanks for the help. I switched to another slot, but unfortunately the system
stalled after a while. The good news is that it lasted longer than usual. I think
the problem is heat - the stick was almost too hot to hold. It probably doesn't
help that the hot air from the CPU is blowing onto the RAM, and moving it away
from the CPU keeps it stable for a bit longer.

I'm going to look into ways of keeping the stick cooler.

Thanks again.

Same memory. Same board. Same problem.

I can run my CPU at 166MHz while running memory at 1:1. But at 4:5, the highest stable FSB is ~150MHz(DDR375).

I can run Prime95 and SuperPi at DDR400 and above, but the second I run 3DMark, etc. it crashes.

Tried different timings, voltages without luck. Also tried BIOS versions 94, AX and BN - none of them can run 3DMark above DDR375.

I would check your memory, Seems lately for every three sticks of Corsair I have ordered one is bad or doesn't run up to par, I am wondering about their quality control
