Abit BF6 help.....

I know this belongs in the "motherboards" section but I thought I'd try here since I usually get a faster response in here. Anyways, I am constantly having problems when I instally either WIn98SE and Windows2000 Advanced Server. I am using an IBM75GXP 30gig model and also a Seagate 8.4 gig ...the IBM is connected to a Promise Ultra 100 ATA card. Under Win98SE...IE hangs sometimes when I click on a link and there is a long pause...which is really annoying. Under Win2000 ...the Dial-up screen keeps popping up and I have to close it several times before it goes away...and then it appears again if I am not using it. I thought the problem was my Celeron566@905mhz ...but I am pretty sure its not because I reinstalled everything using a PII233mhz AND a PII350mhz and both times the same problems occured. I flashed my BIOS a few months back and i don't know why but in Sandra the report was really off...and I am guessing that's when the problems began. I even backed the chip down to 566 several times to install and it hasn't solved anything. Is it time to get a new motherboard?? I am using an Alpha PEP66 w/delta fan and I am using an MSI 6905 slotket and I also tried my old Abit SLOTKET III. I tried installing without the promise controller and that didn't solve anything....I am stumped now...and I don't feel like reinstalling windows2000 every week...any help would be appreciated ..thanks.
