Abit BF6 + Abit Slotket III + Celeron-II 566 = nothing????

you saw the title. Abit BF6 + Slotket III and a Celeron 566 is giving me nothing. No boot, no nothing.

I know the BF6 is only supposed to have a multiplier support up to 8, and the 566 is 8.5x, but I don't see how that would matter?

What could I possibly be doing wrong here?

Check for a Bios upgrade. I had to upgrade the bios that added support for FC-PGA processors for my Soyo 6BA+IV(BX). I only had an 8x multiplier and had Zero problem with the C566 and 850 was a breeze. Since multiplier is locked it will automatically use 8.5.

BEHSH.EXE - Adds support for CII and Coppermines

BEHUH.EXE - Adds support for Up to 1Gb Coppermines

Hope this helps

Hmmm....it should still boot. I have a BF6 and a Cel2-600 @ 900 MHz. Did you set the Slotket III to Celeron? That is for the original Cellies, it should be set to Coppermine for the Cel2 (CU128). That could be your problem. I have never had a system not boot even it did not have the correct multiplier in the BIOS, but it would give boggus info when booting. I have even been able to flash a BIOS on an LX board with a Cel-433. After the upgrade it said it was a 366, but ran at 433 according to benchmark programs.

If the Slotket change doesn't fix it then remove all card except Video and all drives except for the floppy and try again as you could have something in wrong. Do you have the ATX Power jumper on the correct pins? Is the board being shorted on the case? Just a few things to check!

Good luck! 🙂😀
