I just bought an Abit BE7-Raid, running a Pentium4 1.8Ghz on it...

Well here are my temps... CPU 40C idle, motherboard 36C idle

Under load it'll jump as far as CPU 47C, motherboard 49C

Yes the motherboard seems to get hotter than the CPU frequently...

My thoughts are... Is this normal?

By the way, I am running the system in the open right now. It's not mounted onto a case.

My room is pretty cool, door and window opened, nice cool spring breeze drifting in...

From my experiences, usually motherboards of mine run around 30C idle at max... But those were AMD boards... This is my first P4 board...

Should I be worried?

I used to have one of these boards and it ran high 40c's idle and upto 60c under load.

As long as your system doesn't crash while heavy gaming or running prime95 for a couple of hours (ideally the gaming as the heat from your gfx will build up also), dont worry....

My cpu was a 2.4b clocked at 2.8 (1.75v) though...hence the temps.
