I need to upgrade my CPU b/c the intel celery is sooooo slow.

anyhow, are there any BE6-II owners out there able to run the Pentium III 800mhz 133FSB chip on there board without problems?

Please let me know, last i heard, you needed to download the latest BIOS, but i'am having trouble getting it from Abit's site.
But if that's the only thing i need to do, then i'am gonna get it.

Thanks

Pentium® III 1000 MHz, 1GHz SLOT 1, (100MHZ Bus) 256K cache - SECC2 Coppermine - Retail Box Version INCLUDES - Heat Sink and Fan 3 Year Warranty BX80526C1000256E
(Part - INP3S-1000EBOX)
$ 174

This is a 1GHZ 100MHZ bus processor, slot1 style. A bit pricey though.

You might try this download page for the BIOS. I'm not sure if it would be completely stable at 133mhz though. I do know that it will support a 1.1Ghz Celeron(128KB Cache version) with a slotket, as I upgraded a first version BE6 about 3 months ago, and it has been running smoothly with no problems(not OC though).

hth,

Edit: It would also be more economical than a Slot 1 PIII, and the performance is close to that of a PIII 900Mhz, IMO.

BX chipsets do not like 133 FSB,and if you get it that high,it will not shift to 33Mghz for your video and sound. IE: stay with 100FSB and O/C from that stage, unless you have the proper hardware that can withstand the O/C on the rest of the stuff on the buss.

I blew my BE6 II up when a Siluro Gforce 4 bent pins in my AGP socket. Now the board is junk.

ok, this is probably a stupid question but, can i still run PC133 RAM with a 100mhz FSB? or does it not matter?

i think i will go for the 100FSB CPU then, now it's a matter of finding one.

thanks again

I am running a P3-600E @ 800Mhz on a BE6-II, using the 133 bus, so effectively the same as a "real" 800EB chip. There is a 1/4 PCI divider so it's only the AGP which will run out of spec at 89Mhz - any modern AGP card should handle this fine.

Yeah the BE6-II is pretty much OK, 133 is in spec except for AGP which still runs on a 2/3 divider. That should be fine unless you plan on running a TNT2 / brandless cheapy AGP card. People have gotten I think near or above 180MHz with extreme methods using a BE6-II :Q

ok kool,

I think i'am gonna go with the 133FSB CPU, for some reason, they are cheaper than the 100FSB CPU's. dunno why

As for the video card, i'am using a Gainward Geforce 2 MX, 64mb, hope this is fine.

I'am assuming i will need the latest BIOS from Abit, i think i got it.

Thanks again, if anyone can forsee any other issues, please feel free to comment

I ran a P3 800e on a 138fsb 1.8v for the cpu cas2 settings for the ram.
So you should be able to run 800eb easy.

I just put a p3 933 Secc2 ( 133fsb ) in a BE6 (not be6-2) and it runs perfectly with 128mb Crucial CAS2 PC133

I had a BE6-II for awhile (revision 2.1 I believe). The board was rock at any speed I threw at it. I was using a tnt2 and was able to hit 150fsb and everything ran fine. I loved that board/cpu. 550e @ 825, stock cooling, stock voltage.

ok...i'am about to order a PIII 800MHZ 133FSB cpu.

ok....heres the thing, i'am looking for stability more than anything else, this is going into the computer for my parents to use.
what do u think?

as stated earlier, video card should not be an issue since i am running a gainward geforce 2 mx.

let me know what you think, again "stability" is key, will not be o'cing

ok...just received the intel PIII 1GHZ 100FSB cpu. cant wait to get out of work to go and install it.

just curious, for those of you running this CPU in your BE6-II, what settings do you have it set to, in terms of voltage, what temps are you people getting? BTW, i will not be o'cing.

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, in the past, i've always had trouble with this BE6-II, very unstable it seems. I'am sure it's something that i'am doing though. but for some reason, with my IWILL KK266, never had a single problem.

koo...thanks..oh yeah, flashed to latest BIOS last night.
