I need some recommendation on what to do. Whenever I run the Winbond Hardware Doctor, my Vcore reading will always be reported as below the safe limit, reading = 1.65 whereas the safety limit is set at 1.85. When I check this against the BIOS reading, Vcore also reads in the region of 1.65. Is there any cause for concern or should I just ignore this?

It probably means the safe MAX vcore, because the P3-700 is SUPPOSED to run at 1.65V.

Great to know, thanks ! Just wanted to eloborate a little:

Winbond's Vcore limits:
MINIMUM limit is set at: 1.86
Maximum limit is set at: 2.26

whereas my Vcore reading is 1.65

So, why are the limits off-scale if P3-700 is supposed to be 1.65? Worst case scenario, I will just ignore this and diable the beeps, but any insight will be greatly appreciated.

The Pentium III 700 (cA2 and cB0 stepping) run at a default voltage of 1.65 volts.

You should upgrade your motherboard's BIOS, or Winbond Hardware Doctor, or both.

Thanks ! I have adjusted Winbond's Vcore limits.

Now, getting the right BIOS upgrade. I have a CPU Card (Asus S370-DL). In the Abit website, I am given 2 choices of upgrade to download: one's for BE6-II and the other says: " BE6-II Rev. 1.2
with the HPT 370 controller chip ONLY! ".

Question: Is my CPU Card the same as the HPT 370 controller chip, therefore requiring download option 2? Slightly confused here.

The HPT Controller chip is the IDE Controller for the additional IDE ports. It has nothing to do with your processor.

there are 2 versions of the be6-II, one w/ hpt366 (ata/66) and one w/ hpt370(ata/100+raid)

depending on which your computer has, you should update your bios to your specific IDE controller
