Using the Abit BD7-RAID I can only get 2GHz from it. I will try a better cooler (maybe a Swiftech MCX 478) and a different board a bit later to see if I can get any higher from this CPU.

This CPU was pretested by AZZO at 2.4, so something is off on my end :(

How are your results?

Yeah dood...everyone is having problems with this board. It just wont boot right all the time. When it does boot though it's rock stable, but those are few and far between. I just volt modded mine to 1.8V default. It gave me options from 1.1V to 2.1V. I left it at 1.8V and the board boots MOST of the time at 133MHz FSB. I'd return it to whoever you bought it from and hope you get a good one next time around.

Ok got one of these combos but not with raid. I don't have any problems at all booting. One thing you have to check is if you set the FSB too 133 then set the memory to 100Mhz X2 because then the memory will be running at the FSB X2 speed of 266Mhz. I use to have the problem of not rembooting properly before I set the memory to just 100Mhz. Right now I can only get a stable 138Mhz because of my chepo generic memory. Planning on getting some Crucial ram and see where I can take that too.

Edgameman,

The BD7 does have bios issues with regard to overclocking, specifically, reboots and the like. These have nothing to do with the processor; they are specific to the motherboard itself. There are perhaps 30 reports of this over on Hardocp. A bios update should fix the problem at some point...but how long will you have to wait?

Honestly, if you are going for an Intel i845D based board, you should go for an Asus P4B266. There is nothing else even close at the moment for overclocking+stability, particularly with the new 1006 bios. No other Intel board gives you the ranges of overclocking options that the Asus does with the new bios. And no other board has reliably overclocked as high as the Asus from hundreds of reports on Hardforum.com.
