Abit BD7-II RAID with 800MHz FSB & HT (possible?)

I currently have a 1.8a @ 2.4GHz and pc2700 running at DDR354. My main purpose for wanting more power is for media encoding, mainly DivX/XviD and hopefully MPEG2 soon. This is all running on a BD7-II RAID and I was wondering what sort of upgrade paths i can follow without having to replace my mobo.

I'm looking at the new 2.4c with HT. I know my motherboard can support hyper threading (just need a quick BIOS upgrade) but is it able to handle the 800MHz FSB?

I can't stop my quest for faster-than-real-time high quality encoding...

800Mhz FSB will be tough to do on it I bet...you can try it, but I'd go for a new mobo for dual channel DDR anyway

i thought so. just hoping someone would post a success story so i could convince myself to buy it.

any cpu suggestions without changing my motherboard? doesn't look like i have much choice but to get a new board to make upgrading worth it to me.

Check the for sale/for trade forum here and see if anyone upgraded to a P4C and is selling their P4B. Maybe you can get a good deal on a 2.4B or something.
