Hello,

I recently built a system, using the Abit Ax8 motherboard that was recently released. Everything seems to be working okay, however, I noticed that as I am booting into Windows XP Pro, right before it goes to the Username/Password prompt, the motherboard gives out a slight beeping sound. If I connect the speakers to the system the beep goes to the speakers as well.

Today, I turned on the PC after it has been off for about 16 hours; as its POSTing I am getting a constant two-beep sound, one of it a bit higher pitched than the other beep. Sort of like:

High - Low - High - Low (each one is a short beep).

However, the system booted fine and seems to be working okay. Does anyone have any suggestions on what that might be? I checked the CPU/MB temps using the Abit uGuru software and everything is perfectly normal. I even tried re-seating the gfx card as well as my memory and beeping still occurs. It doesn't happen all the time, I would say about 80% of the time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are your temps? Check the BIOS monitoring section and disable the warnings, see if the problem goes away.

Also post the rest of your spec (memory, power supply, etc).

Thanks for the reply.

Here are my exact specs:

AMD Athlon 64 socket 939 3200+
Abit AX8 Motherboard
1GB Crucial DDR PC3200 DRAM
Western Digital 74GB Raptor SATA 10k RPM drive
Chaintech PCI-Express Geforce 6600GT 128MB graphics card
Plextor Dual Layer DVD-+RW drive
Lite-On DVD-ROM Drive
Netgear WG311 USB 2.0 Wireless Network Adapter

Evercase 350W Case/Power supply

Do I disable the warnings via the BIOS? If so, where? I don't seem to see where to disable the warnings...

Thanks.

It's all under uGuru I believe. It might be a better idea to install the uGuru software and do it all from Windows.

EDIT: also fire a message to ABIT support, they will probably give you the right idea of what the beeps mean.

Okay, I found it in the BIOS where I can disable the warnings and also check on the temps. The temps for everything is optimal; I haven't done any overclocking or anything and everything is staying cool (well below the limit it has for when it beeps).

I don't want to disable the warnings because that really doesn't fix the problem..

Do you know where exactly I can send a message to Abit support?

Also, any other ideas?
