I scored a free Abit AX8 board and I'm going to throw some spare parts into it for a second rig. The thing is, I don't know what BIOS version it has. I noticed the Abit website says that there was a BIOS revision (ver 11) that allowed the Venice processors to work.
My question is, if this board has an older version and I put a Venice processor into it, will it boot up? Even if the chip doesn't work, would it boot far enough for me to flash the BIOS to the latest from a CD?
