Abit AV8 & A64 3000 strange stability problem

I always used prime95 to see when my system is stable und it was the perfect indicator but now this:
I can run prime95 for 2 hours without problems at 9x270 but in games after about 30min I even crash at 9x260. I have HT @ x3 and up&down stream @ 8bit and ram at 5/6 (DDR333) @ 3-4-4-10. Ram is two 512 MB Kingston HyperX DDR500. I use 1.700V on CPU.

I just can figure out why this happens and a reliable way to test my system for stability.

Anybody got an idea ?
