Abit AV8-3rd Eye Won't boot past POST or with PCI slot in use! HELP!

Hey,
My friend just purchased a new mother board and cpu. When putting comething in the PCI slot then computer just won't turn on at all.

I flashed the BIOS to the latest, 24 by floppy. I also tried reinstalling Windows.
I tried everything!
I only have 1 stick of RAM in Dimm 1, and this stick DOES work.

He has a Venice 3500+

Any help?

Also, when I plug anything into the PCI slots the Abit POST LED just goes blank....

Hmm. Make sure that the you have enough power for your peripherals. What is the PSU and what are its rails? I would check the bios to make sure no overclocking is takin place and that the bios settings are on the safe default settings until you figure out the problem.
