hey ive thought of a gud use for the Abit At7. A dedicated video editing machine or 3d renderer. lotsa raid for the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge filez, the onboard fast connecters + the sound and support for a powerful CPU and lotsa ram. bit short on the PCI an oviosly (i can nevr spell that word) the legacy so bit streched to do nefink else.

some argue that u dont need nemore than 3 PCI cos of all the onboard functions, but io disagree

anyone else think of a good solution for the AT7?

P.S We lost, but britian still rule..🙂

Hell, I love the AT7 for my main box. 😉 I already had the USB KB, mouse, printer, scanner, smartmedia reader, etc.... The board OCs very well, (8.5x200 FSB) and although the onboard sound is pretty good, I ended up installing my Acoustic Edge. (I'm spoiled 🙂 ) The HP 374 controller works well. I have 2 40GB D740X drives in RAID0, and another DM+ 40 40 gigger as Master on it's own channel. I have an external Firewire enclosure on the way so I can store data to be moved to my other rig that has a FW card. Not to mention I am ready for all of the USB 2.0 devices to come. Did I say I like this board?? 😛

Your solution is good though.. I just like the AT7 for what it is.... A damn fine mobo. 😀 I'll be curious to see what other people may come up with to use it for.

I just bought one to replace my abit kr7a rqaid board i thought i killed but was actaully my processor. Heck of an excsue to upgrade.
hope i like this board.

kool. the only reason i wouldn't use it as a main box board (although many people could) is cos the blueyonder broadband internet requires a cable modem (connects to fibre-optic line) and a NIC which is looped to the cable modem. Wierd huh? And i also use another NIC for my in-house network.

I suppose i should put the NIC+cable modem on the server + share the internet connection. then i could use the v.nice Abit AT7 as a main box......hmmmm

P.S wot do u ppl think of the EPoX 8K3A+?
