which motherboard do you pro´s prefer..? an Abit kr7a, or Asus a7v266-e..? booth using Via kta266a.. which one ist most stable and so on..? any known problems?

thx!

booth have very few problems, and I know the Asus is ultra stable, but I'm not sure of the Abit, I'd think its quite stable too. Abit overclocks a little better, while the Asus performs better.

I'd buy the Asus again, but I'm considering the Abit for someone else right now.

Both are very reputable companies, but if it came down to choosing one for me I would go with ABit just b/c I love their softmenu jumperless bios. The onboard RAID controller makes a nice addition too.

Do a coin toss... one is as good as the other... if you're gonna oveclock then go abit...if you're not then get the asus....

I personally would go with Asus. I simply trust Asus.

Keep in mind, if your motherboard will ever go bad (which won't be surprise to me if you'll get Abit, they have horrible history of Quality Control of their production), ABIT will charge you $25 just to RMA the board. At the same time Asus will do that as a part of warranty.

I like the Abit - got one & it's rock solid. Also agree with Shazzum about the soft bios - nice feature. 🙂

I would go with Asus. For "proof", even AMD uses the Asus A7V266-E as the board to benchmark their new XP processors.

Check it out here under the sytem specs.

Also in some of Anand's latest reviews the A7V266-E is used. Here.

I don't know, I really just trust Asus boards. It seems more problems just seem to crop up with Abit boards.

Go with Asus. I recently pick up that board myself. Very stable with really nice features and at a great price too. Cheaper than the abit

One little interesting piece of information from

My.AnandTech! System Rigs Stats

Motherboard Stats

ABIT: 361
AOPEN: 152
ASUS: 3091
IWILL: 551
MSI: 2885
Tyan: 1132

There is a reason why people use Asus in most of their computers. 361 vs 3091. I'll let you guess which motherboards prove to be more reliable 🙂

Asus makes at least 10 times of mb than Abit a year.
Asus is tier 1 mb maker.

Abit mb is overpriced in the US while it's an inexpensive mb like 2themax (Epox) in Asia.
