ABIT and TBIRD wont mate!

I have an ABIT k7t and a tbird 800. When I try to incert the chip into the socket it wont fit.
Has anyone else had problems with this happening?

I will cover what I have done so no one thinks it's a stupid mistake.

1: Lifted lever to open socket
2: Ensured all pins were straight
3: Checked out each hole in the socket to ensure there was no blockage
4: Pushed as hard as i could without breaking anything
5: Tried rocking the cpu into place. By doing this I can find the side that is not going in. But no matter what I do it's not fitting into place.

This has got to be a flaw in the manufacturing of the mobo. I guess quality control did not cover my unit.

So much for having by Tbird up am running today.

did you see there is a thermal sensor right inside the cpu socket, you have to bend it a little bit before the cpu can set properly into the socket.

I bet you'll want to kick yourself man. Look in the middle of the socket, there's this little blue thing sticking up just above the socket. That's your temp sensor, bend it down intoe the socket and your T-bird will slide right in.

I just came up to respond to my message but it looks like others got to it first.

I desided to take the mobo out of the case and look at it sideways.

Stupid little blue prob! Inside the case looking straight down I completly overlooked the prob. The second I took it out it was very obvious.

I was having a tough time believing that there was a problem with the socket. I must have looked at the pins on the cpu about 50 times.
Over an hour spent pluggin a dam ziff socket in!

Humility has been reached.
