I built a system with my sons at Christmas 2005 with the following:
Antec Sonata II
Abit AN8 Ultra motherboard
EVGA 6800GS video card
AMD X2 3800+ CPU
2 Gb Corsair memory
Western Digital 250 Gb harddrive
Win XP Home
It has worked flawlessly until about 2 weeks ago. It started chirping like a cricket when I'd start it up. Then this morning it won't start at all. I opened it up and the LED and POST test numerical display are lit up, power is getting to the motherboard.
I followed the following procedures as outlined in the ABIT manual:
1. unplug, wait 1+ min, plug in
2. unplug, wait 1+ min, hold insert key and plug in
3. reset CMOS jumper on mb, plug in
4. unplug mb battery, unplug power supply to mb, reset CMOS jumper, plug in
In all cases, as well as before I did anything, the results are the same. It emits a chirping sound while the POST test display shows a flashing 3/3.3. Finally the chirping stops and the display shows F. It doesn't start, the start button doesn't respond, nothing happens other than what I listed above. 33 is listed in the manual as having to do with the keyboard, there is no listing for a plain F. in the manual.
