I am putting together a new system and it will not post. The post code shows FF.
I took the motherboard out of the case with only 1 stick of ram and the video card attached and cleared the cmos but it still stops at FF. Anyone have any ideas - dead motherboard or cpu?

Isnt the post code FF a boot attempt? Mine stopped on post code 90 and F5 once and the 90 was a overclock failures. Which, I dont overclock this cpu. The F5 was a cmos ( something ) failure....

Reflash the BIOS and reset CMOS. You can also reset CMOS by removing the battery. Try the original BIOS if you're having problem with the latest BIOS.

Finally, connect only the video card, RAM, and one hard drive to the MB and retest. Also try a PATA drive.

FF is what you want to see - that's when it is booting.

Are you sure that your monitor works and is connected properly? Are you being patient to see if anything comes up on the screen?

Also, is there any strange beeping aside from the single short 'beep' that shows you that everything posted OK ?

Just to let you know - I also had a faulty AN8 Ultra that I'm currently RMA'ing (it wouldn't run in dual channel at all, and RAM sticks 2 and 4 didn't work), but post code FF is what you want to see, so something else must be wrong...
