Right now Everest is reporting 26 degrees celcius idle and about 45 degrees at full load at 2.5GHz. This is with a Thermaltake Big Typhoon HSF but on my MSI Neo2 Platinum it reported 34 idle and about 55 load.

Is the motherboard wrong?

Edit:the BIOS also says 26 degrees idle.

It depends on the bios version. I run Bios 13 and it reports temps about ten degrees centigrade higher than bios 17. My 4000+ reports 38 degrees centigrade right now at 2.4 on stock voltage with bios 13. Bios after 16 are reporting lower temps due to user complaints about high temperature readings.

All that tells us is that bios temperature reporting is not exact and can be manipulated by the motherboard manufacturers.
