Hello,

I'm looking at getting one of these boards, I have a 3000+ Venice I will use. I am looking at Newegg, and other then a bigger looking heatsink and different audio I don't see much difference between the two boards. Does anyone know what the differences are? I will be overclocking. The AN8 is about $30 more, does it have something that makes it worth the extra money?

I know the AN8 has a passive cooling heatpipe. Don't know what else if different.

FYI, I think outpost.com has $135-$25 rebate on the AN8 SLI (shipping and tax extra) until 1/17

As far as I can tell they both use a heatpipe and passive cooling. I plan to overclock so I don't know if either is better for overclocking, or one has a better feature set... as far as I can tell they're both pretty similar.

Besides heatsink and audio, the major difference is that AN8 SLI comes with:

[*]uGuru (an overclocking utility within Windows, much better than nVIDIA nTune or other freewares)
[*]POST Code Display (an LED device to display the POST Code, located in the right bottom of the motherboard)
[*]Five fan headers in addtion to CPU fan header (vs. three in KN8 SLI, one of which is actually unusable because of its bad location near a PCI slot). All of them are controllable in either BIOS or Windows (vs. none of them is controllable)
[*]Fancy red bright LEDs
[*]Much better construction of the retail box (KN8 is near brown box)

For overclocking, both are on par (I guess). Someone prefer uGuru to BIOS manipulation. I recommend AN8 SLI over KN8 SLI because of its extras (they are certainly useful) if you can still find it. AN8 SLI will disappear shortly from any store.

You are looking for AN8 Ultra, aren't you? AN8 SLI is a good (or better) alternative.
