Abit AN8 32X Anyone Have One?

Not even just over one month ago I ordered a KN8 SLI, I should of held out for the AN8 32, I did not realise it was coming so soon, well here it is, NewEgg and ZipZoomFly have them and I ordered one yesterday.

Well guess as soon as I get this one that KN8 SLI will be going up for sale here.

Ok wait someone tells me the card isn't using the full 8x bandwith and it's not going to come even close to fully using the 16x bandwith. Is this true did I just waste money when I already have the KN8 SLI?:

P.S. Damm this is going to suck paying out 2 clams for a mobo when I already bought the Abit KN8 SLI and to hear someone say the AN8 32x isn't going to be any faster, that the cards don't even use the full bandwidth.

Well, if you look at reviews of the ASUS A8N32 you will see that is essentially true.
I think that the only time that people have seen any improvement is with an FX, 2x7800GTX 512Mbs & running at extreme resolutions...

I just wrote a letter to NewEgg to cancel it and I'll send it back when it comes. Personally for the first time I almost got sucked into the gaming BS, thinking that my 7800 GT cards would support it, when all it is, is future crap for someday, whenever that gets here.

Oh well I'll becareful not to jump so high next time.

If you are running 1600x1200 or less you wont see much performance, if any, increase at this time. The better performance increases arent realized till after you go above 1600x1200. Example:1920x1050 or 1920x1200 or higher.

What monitor is anyone going to have that runs above 1600? Sheesh the 21" and up LCDs, from what I see is where 1600 starts at.

I mean what are you talking about? Sounds like everyone needs at least a 23" monitor to achieve those resolutions.

There are quite a few people here with the Dell 2405s that do 1920x1200 and most good 21/22" CRTs will do 2048x1536 comfortably.

Although even at higher resolutions, do you actually get any significant (more than 5% or so) boosts? Most of the A8N32 reviews I saw showed pretty minimal performance improvements regardless of the settings used.

If not is there anything by Viewsonic that is awesome then for these higher resolutions? I don't know why but I seem to be stuck on wanting a Viewsonic, but is there really any better choices?

And forget telling me about a Dell, LOL I won't own anything with that name on it.

I don't think the Dell LCDs are all that great either, but they are popular here in any case.

The specs look decent enough but I don't much about that model myself. You're probably better off asking in the video forum if you're looking to buy an LCD.

I'm being told by hardcore gamers that the best gaming monitors are at 19" with the 1280 native and anything higher you might have problems with ghosting and what not, etc....

Any thoughts on this?

Both my 19" & 21" CRTs support upto 2048x1536

Some people like the higher resolution LCDs. The Dell 2405 is just one that is popular right now. IMO each person needs to decide which resolution is ideal for himself and then get your LCD based on that. For example I currently believe 1600x1200 is my ideal resolution. Anything higher and my eyes are strained too much I feel. I think a 20" LCD w/1600x1200 native resolution will suit me just fine.

As for the x32 mobos its true the performance gains above 1600x1200 isnt alot. Supposedly nVidia and ATI are going to tweak their cards to take advantage of it and the mobo manufacturers are going to increase performance as well. But thats not the only reason to buy the X32 mobos. Like all new mobos they'll have other improvements as well. The X32 (or x16 depending how you read it) is just one new feature that'll work its way into the standard I'm guessing. The cooling and power control on the A8N32 is much better than the A8N Premium mobo it replaces and it performs faster overall. I hear the vcore is better too. It supposedly overclocks better than the previous A8N line ontop of that. More reasons why some will want it. Its pricey of course but its aimed at the high end crowd so ASUS put a higher pricing on it. I suspect though as time goes on the price will drop a little bit. Particularly once ASUS comes out with a newer improved version.
