Abit AB9 QuadGT

Although there seems to be some conflicting information from several websites, it seems the Abit AB9 QuadGT motherboard supports CPU's with a FSB speed up to 1066MHz.

Some sites suggest this motherboard supports FSB up to 1333MHz, but this is not confirmed.

Based on FSB speed of 1066MHz, the following quad core CPU's are supported -

Core 2 Quad - Q6600 (2.4GHz, 8MB cache)
Core 2 Quad - Q6700 (2.66GHz, 8MB cache)

Core 2 Extreme - QX6700 (2.66GHz, 8MB cache)
Core 2 Extreme - QX6800 (2.93GHz, 8MB cache)

You can still find the old Abit site (despite the company being no longer in business). As long as you have BIOS v16 for Q6000-series CPUs or v17 for all other Core2Quads, you'll be fine. They added FSB1333 support in BIOS version 14.

Found a Core 2 Quad Q8300 that I am thinking about purchasing. Can anyone confirm if this will work with this board?

The Q8200 is on the supported list so I see no reason why the Q8300 would not be, its only a single multiplier difference.
