Abit AB9 Pro motherboard and Q6600

Hey guys I want to build a Q6600 and a Abit Ab9 Pro P965 chipset board. The Abit page says the board will run a Q6600. I just want to confirm that it will. I don't have another CPU here to install and update the bios before I drop in the Q6600, and I don't know what bios this board has right now, and if it will run OK
Thanks

The board will run a Q6600 with an appropriate BIOS, the problem is we don't know what's on yours.
1 solution would be to order a BIOS chip with the latest BIOS which should cost about $15-20.
(If you wanted you could then hotflash your other giving you a spare.)

One note on using the AB9 pro to hotflash.
It has to be the exact manufacturer on both chips. You can't boot the board with a chip made by atmel then swap out one made by winbond.
Most boards don't care, but this one makes note of the manufacturer id on boot and will not allow flashing of a different brand.

OK thanks guys. I have read some on the web about other owners. I'm not sure yet, but I might be OK just dropping the Q6600 in. I got the board from the Egg at the end of March 2008. The Abit web page for the Ab9 Pro shows the Q6600, but my box does not. The last bios listed for the Ab9 Pro was in 11/06/07
I might be OK after all
