hi
ive been trying to fix my pc for weeks now and there has been no progres at all, only a £180 bill 🙁 this is how it started...

i did a fresh install off my pc a few weeks ago to clean up the hard drive but once i had installing vista and the drivers my pc randomly froze up after a few hours and wont load up properly. the pc turns on for 5-10 secs then just turns off again and just contnous to go in this loop of restarting on and off, with nothing comming up on the screen. so i tested some of the hardware to find out what the problem was and found out my Intel Core 2 duo 2.66 GHz had just blown 🙁 so i thought buying a new cpu would solve the problem but soon as i put a brand new intel core 2 quad 2.66 GHz the same problem happened again...

should i just buy a new motherbord or is there another way to fix this?

please can somone help me its driving me nuts

pc spec
abit 35 pro motherbord
320 gb harddrive
6 gb of ram (2x1gb 2x2gb)
GTX 8800 geforce
600watt psu
intel core 2 quad 2.66 GHz which has probs blown like the last one 🙁

Your HSF working and good enough?

CPU isn't your problem if you can turn it on and see a screen.

Can also be your PSU or memory as top culprits.
You need to run tests, or start up a process of elimination with separate parts if you have any.

Try posting in Computer Help, you might get more responses there.

i also doubt your cpu has gone bad or "blown" try reseting bios to defaults or taking battery out for a hour, also try with just one stick ram, what kind of psu is it? maybe its problem with psu / mobo combination, i would try diff motherboard then try diff psu,

I had 3 of these boards and 1 had a very similar problem and it was the memory, try resetting them,if no good try 1 stick at a time. Also these boards and other p35 boards had a cold start issue sometimes. Get the latest bios and if you still have problems get back to me with some details. Or e-mail me I will try to work you through it. I also have an Abit IP35 board for sale
