I think ralph-lauren/Polo might be the next target.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch hires a disproportionately white sales force, puts minorities in less-visible jobs and cultivates a virtually all-white image in its catalogues and elsewhere, a lawsuit charges.

The federal lawsuit, filed Monday by nine Hispanic and Asian plaintiffs, alleges that Abercrombie discriminates against blacks, Hispanics and Asians by enforcing a nationwide corporate policy of preferring white employees for sales positions, desirable job assignments and favorable work schedules.

Well it's true. I've never seen a non-white person working at any A&F store I've ever been to (a couple in the DFW area, one in So-Cal, two in Memphis/Germantown) Two asian chicks I know both applied and were both turned down after the interview despite having plenty of experience. They said the next week they saw 2 white chicks who said they just started that week.

Time for me to sue Phat Pharm, Sean John, and FUBU I guess.

I don?t care their clothes suck and they cost way to fvcking much

true, I think their clothes are targeted at 15-20 year olds anyway. They don't have damn thing you can wear to work and not look like a bum.

I live in Chicago Suburbs and I have seen at least two black employees behind the counter ringing me up. But I have also noticed a sort of aura of your presence not being appreciated if you are not white. The catalogs, the bags you get when you purchase merchandise, and the huge posters in the store do perpetuate a ubiquitous white image. There will be a few token black guys/girls in the catalog, but for the most part, white. But, then again, who is their target market? Do they have a responsibility to present a diversified corporate image? I think so. Looks like this might turn into another Tommy Hilfiger or Denny's. Good thing light is finally being shed on Abercrombie for its far from peachy tactics.

Bah I don't care for Abercromie and Fitch and their WB-lifestyle image.

As for their idea of diversification remeber they had the "two wongs make a white" shirt that got pulled. sure it's stupid, but man, they've got some sad, sad, folks over at corporate. somehow i get the feeling the dorks who run that company were the biggest losers in high school and have to live through the lives of their advertising/image of young "popular" teens as some sort of compensation.

she probably only got half what others got...

jkjk 😛

anyways, if they are discriminating for purposes of employment, then they should definitely be held accountable. if it's just this hand-wavey (they only put white people in their catalogs) thing, then forget it.

Why? If a company wants to sell their clothes to only white people, why can't they?

If a store wants to have a white-only bathroom, why can't they?

they're not preventing non-whites from buying their clothing, that is simply their target demographic. besides the whole employee thing, of course, there is not really any problem here.

Segregation and target market are two completely different things (i'm not saying its right, but it's not what youre talking about). As stated, You think FUBU would give me a job? What about Phat Farm? Yeah right.

A&F probably does use whiteys more. Damn crackers! 😀

oh please, dont make a mockery of this thread by talking about sean jean. White corporations for years have been oppressing minorities in the aforementioned ways and a plethora of others.

Two wrongs make a right? You can't say its ok to murder someone because someone else has done it.

Rediculous.

two wrongs dont make a right, no, but you can't say that ills of the past can just be forgotten either, were not talking murder here , lets try and use a better anology next time.

That's not the same thing, but if they wanted to, why not? As long as the government doesn't get involved and say that only whites can use the bathroom, if I'm paying rent some place I should be the only one to say who can and can't use the bathroom. If I'm a racist fvck and don't want blacks or hispanics to use my bathroom, I should have that right.

It's not a good thing that people think that way, but if it's their property, I think they should be able to allow whomever they wish onto it.

As for clothing, if A&F only want to market to white people, that's their choice.

The anology doesnt matter as long as you got the point. A&F is wrong for what they are doing if they are not allowing people to advance in the workplace. IF they choose to market towards white people, so be it. But don't think for a second that Phat Farm, FUBU and others haven't done the same thing. I think thats the only point people were making.

Land of the free? What? Whoever told you that is your enemy "RATM"

Today it's the land of lawsuits!
