ABC... XY 'zay'???

I'm feeling a little insecure here. Two friends in my building are pronouncing the letter 'z' as zay... I'm thinking, isn't it the letter 'zee'? Is this a common thing? I came from the East coast (NJ) and everyone says 'zee'. These Berkeley people are beginning to freak me out. :confused:

hmm... maybe they were saying 'zed' all this time, sure sounded like 'zay' to me, let's see if I can add that to the poll.

In Trinidad, my teachers and sometimes my parents would say "zed", but us kids, being raised on American TV (like Sesame street), said "zee".
