ABC looks for military funerals on Inauguration day

Text

ABC News: Too Lazy To Hide The Bias
Hindrocket at Power Line found a new ABC initiative to bring balance to its news broadcasts, or at least those they intend to provide on Inauguration Day tomorrow. Obviously, the Halperin Memo is still in effect even past Election Day:

For a possible Inauguration Day story on ABC News, we are trying to find out if there any military funerals for Iraq war casualties scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20.
If you know of a funeral and whether the family might be willing to talk to ABC News, please fill out the form below[.]

So here we have a public broadcaster who explicitly intends on using the death of at least one American serviceperson -- specifically in Iraq, so dead American soldiers or Marines in Kosovo or Afghanistan need not apply -- as a means to make a political statement about Bush's inauguration. If your son or daughter, sister or brother, or friend or neighbor isn't lucky enough to be buried on January 20th, don't bother applying, because ABC and Disney won't give a rat's ass about him or her.

The sheer chutzpah and shallowness doesn't surprise me as much as the laziness that this demonstrates. It's not enough that some bloodsucking leech wants to use the grief of some poor family as entertainment and political theater. They are too freakin' lazy to go out and find one themselves, so they want someone to get them an invitation to the funeral.

Whoever posted this at ABC needs a soul transplant. Disgusting.

UPDATE: ABC has apparently taken down the web page, as the link above now takes me to an error page for their site. Fortunately, I archived it to my site here.
First CBS. Then ABC demonstrates their bias with the Halperin memo, now this.

What liberal media?

Oh, you mean the liberal media run by the oh-so-liberal corporate CEOs who own the media, and the liberal media that's been covering for everyone's favorite liberal, George W. Bush, since day one.

That liberal media.

Right?

Yeah, the OP clearly demonstrates how they've been covering for Bush.

Explain Rather's "Memogate," and tell me that there is no liberal bias with a straight face.

This has nothing to do with covering the troops, so go chew on your red herring elsewhere please.

The media HAS been covering for Bush, and you know it. He was never given a fair media look at his suspicious military records, his connections with the Swift Boat Veterans ad campaign, and his connections with a myriad of scandals that should have had the country in an uproar - but didn't.

Clinton lied about getting his dick sucked...and the media is all over him and it. Bush lies about WMD in Iraq...the media shrugs its shoulders in mock anger and pretty much ignores it. A majority of Americans believe incorrectly that Hussein had clear ties to 9/11...and what does the liberal media do to correct it? Nothing.

Even prominent conservative politicians have privately admitted that the liberal media is a myth...

"I admit it: the liberal media were never that powerful, and the whole thing was often used as an excuse by conservatives for conservative failures." - GOP strategist William Kristol

"The truth is, I've gotten fairer, more comprehensive coverage of my ideas than I ever imagined I would receive....I've gotten balanced coverage and broad coverage -- all we could have asked? For heaven sakes, we kid about the liberal media, but every Republican on earth does that." - Pat Buchanan

The media is ultimately owned by a few powerful corporations, and the simple fact of the matter is that those corporations do NOT tend towards liberalism.

Yeah, they're only signing the paychecks for those who are. Because, as we all know, those in front of the camera are actually responsible for writing, editing, and researching those stories for the major networks.

Explain Rather's "Memogate," and tell me that there is no liberal bias with a straight face.

I was in military basic training and tech school during "Memogate" - needless to say I wasn't watching much TV at that point, so I can't/won't try to explain Memogate.*

* Note: this is an example of intellectual honesty. You conservatives should try it sometime.
