Let me put it to you this way IHV, you can bet against Obama and I will bet against any Netanyahu political futures. Maybe that will answer the who is out of their element questions in the short term.

Funny LL that you claim that the problems of the Middle East with Israel would be solved when Israel and the Palestinians have peace. The problem of the Palestinians was created because of the refusal of the Arabs to accept Israel, and not vice versa.

I find it pretty ridiculous really. You must be pretty naive if you thinks the gripes of the Arabs with Israel and the West starts and stops at the Palestinian issue. Obviously it doesn't help, but it would change nothing for the Muslim extremists.

While an overwhelming majority of the Israelis want peace, today - as opposed to 5 or 10 or 15 years ago - Israelis understand it is just not possible with the Palestinian mentality. No one in Israel gives a fuck about the peace process anymore, and rightly so; Israel is collectively traumatized by what happened the last time it did peaceful concession (Gaza disengagement).

If you're counting on Israel accepting the right of return, or anyone forcing it to do so, you must be delusional. Israel knows it would be the end of it.

Nethanyahu is very popular in Israel, much more than Obama is in the US. Besides, the nature of Israeli politics is that the same figures pretty much stick around (Rabin, Peres, Nethnayhu, Barak, etc), and there is no maximum terms limitation, so I bet he has at least one more term ahead of him in the next decade.
