As we may recall, as various UN and Non UN affiliated human rights organizations found
ample evidence of war crimes on both sides, in the recent Israeli incursion into Gaza.
And as both Hamas and Israel stood accused, both united in denouncing the reports.

But now Abbas, under US pressure not to, has agreed with the abuse reports and pushes for
an immediate UN vote. And advocates immediate extradition for those accused.

The one flaw that I see, is that Abbas and Fatah in the West Bank were not only not involved,
they also can not speak for Hamas in Gaza. But if Hamas comes aboard too, it could mend many Hamas Fatah fences, and it could put Israel in a very bad position. As Obama may be between a rock and a hard places in terms of giving Israel a veto in the security council. If Obama gives the
Israel the veto, there goes Obama standing in the Arab world, if not Obama will catch hell from the
US pro Israeli lobby. And Obama may not have much time to decide. But its also could be used as bludgeon against Israel, to force it to make serious concession towards a Palestinian State.

Of course the Israeli answer to Abbas is no more peace talks as if that is anything new.

Time will tell.

Should that apply to Hamas also?

It would have to or it would not be credible. Which is why Hamas signing on is the other joker in the deck. Will Hamas sign on is the other question. Nor can I see Abbas having any ability
to sign Hamas on.

It will also likely result in Israel carrying out with their threat of economic blackmail:

Meanwhile, Israel has warned the Palestinian Authority that it would condition permission for a second cellular telephone provider to operate in the West Bank - an economic issue of critical importance to the PA leadership - on the Palestinians withdrawing their request at the International Court.

Regardless, I believe Abbas change of heart is in the better interests of Palestinians, and he has regained some semblance of creditability with me from this move.

Certainly not Hamas as some monolithic whole as I'm guessing you'd like, but I see no reason it wouldn't apply to any individuals with solid evidence against them, be they Hamas or otherwise.
