After some time searching and not finding much info on the net regarding the emerging technology of pico projectors, I've decided to put in my contribution with this review.
The guys over at Aaxatech are pretty friendly and straightforward, you ask a question, you get an answer, no sales pitches which is nice. I ordered the P1 projector, VGA converter bundle which you get a nice 50% discount on if you buy a projector, Zune cable and a tripod kit. The product arrived quickly and was packed well. I would include some pictures but it appears there's no way to do it on this site?
The battery pack installs similar to a cordless phone where there's a lead coming out of the battery that needs to be plugged in. It's a bit tricky, but if you have like a pen or something, makes it easier. There's a charging light on the projector that turns off once the battery is fully charged.
There's a cheesy demo video included which is good for a chuckle the first time around, but watching it the 2nd time makes me think it's like dubbed kung-fu movie meets Toy Story gone wrong 😛
Transferring files from the computer was a breeze since the moment I plugged in the USB cable, my computer instantly recognized the mass storage device. Once the files are on, it's easy to find in the onboard menu and play. The only thing is, not every codec is installed, so Aaxatech recommends converting all your files w/ Format Factory's software which is a free download.
I'll follow up later on when I hooked my PS2 to the projector, that was fun. Unfortunately the speakers do leave something to be desired but being able to see my games on a 60" screen was good enough for now.
