The lumens be getting dimmer and I know not what to do. It flickers, goes off and then resumes its way.

Is it a failing bulb or a flatulent electron dispenser?

I can only imagine that you're talking about the cartoonish lightbulb that goes on when you come up with a great idea or think of something brilliant to say...

I can also understand why it's dim.

One way to tell, should replace it every 6 months or so anyway from what I've read so pick up a spare or three and try... If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, know what I'm talking about?
