AAPL death watch

I said this a long time before Jobs died, Jobs IS Apple. It will never be the same without him and they will not keep the trend going as Jobs did. Hell, even look at the new Apple commercials that they are airing during the Olympics, Jobs would never have allowed those to go on the air.

People expected them to fall like crazy after Jobs died, but a year later they're stronger than ever.

The Mac ads are terrible but that's somewhat do to the fact the the current Windows iteration isn't a turd and they can't smack talk it. Even then it's doing a terrible job explaining what the product is, which the iCloud ads in particular have done a good job

So like. Macs are super easy to use. Yet they need an Apple "Genius" to put together a movie and a presentation?
Sounds like they aren't that easy if you can't do these things yourself with the super easy Apple software.

I though exactly the same thing. What a retarded ad.

man I had never seen those ads, they're horrible!
and absolutely not jobs style, they're not being subtle smartass assholes enough in those ads.

Richard Stallman said:
Steve Jobs, the pioneer of the computer as a jail made cool, designed to sever fools from their freedom, has died.

As Chicago Mayor Harold Washington said of the corrupt former Mayor Daley, "I'm not glad he's dead, but I'm glad he's gone." Nobody deserves to have to die - not Jobs, not Mr. Bill, not even people guilty of bigger evils than theirs. But we all deserve the end of Jobs' malign influence on people's computing.

Unfortunately, that influence continues despite his absence. We can only hope his successors, as they attempt to carry on his legacy, will be less effective.

Year old news. NYT has a hardon for Apple and have looked foolish in every smear piece they have written recently, including this one.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443343704577553953443264394.html

Apple Inc. held discussions with Twitter Inc. more than a year ago about taking a strategic investment in the short-messaging service, according to a person familiar with the talks.

People familiar with the matter said there are no current formal investment or acquisition discussions between the companies.

NYT == dying media is dying.

"I'm a Genius.". Well, at least they covered the pretentious part of the commercial. Jobs woulda been more subtle about it though.

I love all the people with, "Jobs would never have done it this way" who don't realize all the stupid shit Jobs signed off on in his day.

No they are not stronger than ever, plus they're still riding on the coattails of Jobs. It'll be a couple years and it'll show. Jobs was a very hands on and controlling CEO. He obviously had a ton of influence on EVERYTHING Apple did. It's good when he was there but being so controlling meant there wouldn't be the proper grooming of his would be successor.

Apple won't die - they just won't be as wildly successful with the current CEO at the helm. There's just something "off" about him that rubs me the wrong way and I suspect he's taking the company in directions that Steve would never have wanted.

Wow - those commercials are extremely terrible..

Unfortunately this is at least substantially the case. Without Jobs at the helm I don't know how things will fare for apple. A deathwatch is surely premature. It's still a massive, profitable company full of talent, but it was like he sold his soul; eat product he came out with was killer and I don't think Apple can keep doing that.

Im sure he left his "plan" for the next few years with whomever so apple will be around as is for at least 3 years, they just need to find another "steve" by then.
