This all happened three days ago and I'm just now posting about it. I was on my way to work Friday and was in need of a little cash, so I paid a visit to an ATM Machine. I used my company credit card to take out a cash advance. Upon doing so the ATM Machine proceeded to make a few awful(sp?) noises and took my card. AAh but wait, the plot thickens. You see, I am currently on an assignment to Aruba working for US Customs maintaining their communication systems and network. Now if any of you have ever been to an Island where you had to conduct business with the local population, you already should know that islanders don't get into any hurry to get things done. Problem is, I have to keep accountability for this credit card, and it?s not REALLY mine, outside of it having my name on it. Well I wasn't about to leave without my card, so I called the bank and requested that they send someone out to open the machine and retrieve my card. Well to no surprise, they told me that I would have to wait until Monday before I could pick up the card at the bank. That wasn't going to cut it, so I managed to contact the Big Cheese at the bank. He told me that they had a pickup going out to empty the ATM that afternoon, and to stop by the bank around 3:45pm. I was there a half hour early, fortunately I arrived the same time the armored truck did. Patiently I waited for them to complete their dump. Finally the bank director met with me. He then told me that he had some bad news. They didn't find my card, and I would have to report it lost or stolen. Well as you can imagine I left fairly upset to say the least. Well, I still had to get some cash, so I decided to use my check card in a different ATM that was right outside the bank. And can you guess what was in my wallet as I reached for my check card. Yep.. the credit card that I had presumed lost. Apparently the malfunctioning ATM spat my card out and I replaced it in my wallet behind some other cards and simply didn't remember. DOH!!!! Jeez, I done some embarrassing sh!t in my life, but this definitely breaks into the top 5. Needless to say I was quite happy to see the card!!! 😱😱😱
