aah! help with thermal paste!

I didn't know how to apply thermal paste before, so I was in a hurry and I squeezed a whole bunch, about a 1mm thick on my cpu and then put the heatsink on. Is that bad? My Volcano 6 has thermal tape on it... I think... cuz its all black and all so it would be safe to take off the heatsink, clean off the thermal paste, and apply a good layer, right?

That would be the best bet. Too much Thermal paste is a bad idea

Which CPU? You are risking shorting out your AMD CPU if you used AS2 More details!

I'd recommend removing the parafin thermal pad and cleaning up the mess you made with Xylene (Goof Off) and IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol). A thin layer should be applied to the CPU core, not the whole CPU. If you put a thick layer on the CPU core, then no worries, the HSF should have pushed the excess out
