Seriously, can't anyone build f*cking sh*t that works anymore?? Why does the consumer have to beta test everything? :frown:

In the past couple months, I've had problems with a lot of stuff I have. For example;

-my BP6 motherboard has bad caps on it
-ECS K7S5A mobo I tried. Problems up the ass. Went through five of them. Nuff said.
-my ipaq had dusty screen, dead pixels, stuck buttons, etc.
-I have four cellphones on my desk that turn themselves off even with full battery charge, including my main one. Nokia 5100,6100(x2) and ericsson R289LX.
-modem died on sony laptop

I don't get it, it's not like I abuse anything I own. What gives?? :( Is this because companies are building disposable electronics now??

I know they've been making the K7S5A for over 2 years now. It has to be one of the most produced boards ever. There's bound to be a certain % that go bad. As for the phones, most phones do suck. Especially the batteries. They always lose their life after a while.

Yeah I think from now on, I'll only buy stuff that I absolutely need and avoid upgrading for the "latest/greatest" effect. :(

On the flip side I really like high quality stuff that proves itself with time. My MS keyboard I've been using daily for 3 years and no problems. I'm using an old 12x iomega/plextor CDRW that I refuse to upgrade because it's solid, it rips and read cds other drives can't. My TI85 calculator I've had for almost a decade now and it still works fine. My family has a couple of SLR film cameras from the 70s/80s and they still work solidly today. Why can't more new stuff be like that?

I for one am glad things break, Thats how I make my living, fixing broken things!

That BP6 must be nearly 5yrs old, I would think it is time to retire it with honors rather then curses, mine served me well, till about a month ago.

I have noted cycles, seems like everything is fine then once something dies several others will follow shortly. Good luck, perhaps you are nearing the end of a cycle!
