lasted about 45 minutes. put a new machine together last night, was going to be kind of temporary until i get my raid card, so i thought i would try rc2 and get a feel for it. kept freezing a couple of minutes after booting, everytime. installed fine, no problems there, but once it booted into the desktop, it would wait a couple of minutes and freeze. the only thing i can figure is they don't have the SMP part smoothed out, the machine is a PIII 850 dually.

I think from what I've read and heard I'm gonna stick with 2K for awhile XP just looks like a "Forced Proc Upgrade" to me.

2K is a tank anyhow

I've upgraded from Win2k to XP RC1 without a hitch. Went from XP RC1 to RC2 now without a hitch. Easiest installs I've ever done.

Just tried installing XP, and it screwed up my system. Can't boot into XP and can't reinstall 98 (what I had) b/c it gives me the error:
"Your hard drive might have a disk compression program installed."

So basically I'm screwed.

I wouldn't recommending loading XP RC1 just yet based on my experience.

You guys that are having problems, are you using a legit version? The cracks are very bad for system stablity.

As part of the preview program I have been able to use the software as meant by MS. I have also tried the cracks to see what they do. My advice is, don't make youdecision until you try the legit product. If you are using legit software and still having these problems, I'm very suprised. The software has been rock solid for me on several systems (OC'ing too). It feels faster then 2k and more solid. Boot times are awesome.
