Barring some unforeseen major physical setback, Brett Favre will be at training camp in Mankato when they open up the end of July, a source has told WCCO's Mark Rosen.

That source said that Favre and the Vikings have indeed come to a contractual agreement, with heavy incentives. The Vikings equipment manager has already ordered number 4 purple jerseys with his name on it

Cue down 3rd annual retirement talk and subsequent rumors of return in 3...2...

Am I the only one sick of hearing about Brett Favre and how all the Packer fans hate him now?

Since he's from about 5 miles from where I live, I'd like to appologize to the entire world for Favre on behalf of South Mississippi.

Yea, this retire, not retire stuff is silly. I know it's hard to quit but seriously... just quit. And never pop your head out again.

Brett Favre will always be the man. As neither a lover nor a hater of the Packers, I have always been a fan of Favre and his ability to perform. He was actually pretty decent until he got hurt last year with the Jets. And the season before in GB was close (6 back and forth attempted field goals close) to being the stuff of legends and movies.

Lets not forget that the experience and teaching he brings is worth billions alone. It is amazing how much Clemens and Ratliff have matured since taken under the wing of Favre. And Fuck the guy COULD retire and make millions just becoming a QB guru and advertising god. He chooses to keep playing and with talent like his I see no reason why he shouldn't as long as he is healthy.

The sad fact is, that even at 300 years old he is still a better QB then a lot of people in the league.

Bring on the hating. If there is one thing in this world that is true, football fanhood is the most irrational and fervent thing out there. I won't completely dismiss you just because you have been bred to hate on the guy.

He stunted Aaron Rodgers' growth for all the time he was there by not allowing him to play. They were never friends in GB and he was hardly taking him under his wing and showing him the ropes.

Ratliff (who never had a chance to prove himself in NY and will probably end up as a 3rd stringer in CLE) and Clemens would've developed much more if they were actually on the field playing, learning from their mistakes and building upon their successes.

Favre is selfish and only looks out for himself. It's sad that people will end up remembering him mostly for his vengeance and his wanting to stick it to the team and town that supported him forever. It's one thing to want to continue your career, but 95% of his motive for coming back is pure spit, and for that I hope he falls flat on his face this coming season.

I won't get my hopes up until it's official, but I can't wait for the season to start now. Until he got hurt, Favre had great numbers for the Jets. Pro Bowl numbers people!!! I don't care how old he is, he's still 1000% better than any of the other so called QB's wearing purple. This will be the first time in about 10 years that I thought the Vikes might make a run for the Bowl.

Bring on the season.

I sure don't hate him, but I would love to see him throw a bunch of interceptions when the Vikings play the Packers.... 1,2,3 and he throws one up there for grabs ...lol
The retirement stories are silly...I am not sure if it would have gotten to this point have the Packers just kept a guy who wanted to play for them some more. Why blame him, and not the organization for letting him go (too early apparently)... wait I think he told them he was retiring ... yeah nevermind, I don't know what the hell he is thinking, or is going thru.

I should add that I still enjoy watching him play.

Wasn't there some sort of weird contract obligation the Jets had to pay out (over 1 million) if Favre came out of retirement? I wonder how much the Jets owners are cursing under their breath on this news.

I will enjoy seeing Brett Favre come back another year. He is a hell of a lot more exciting to watch than 85% of the other QBs in the league. Cant wait for the Monday night game against the Packers!

.

I just wonder why he doesn't just do a coaching job, QB Coach or along those lines. Or has he said no at some point in the last few years?

If I recall correctly, there was a very specific trade clause, that he could not be traded to a team in the NFC north, or the Jets would owe three 1st round picks. Since NYJ released him, that is now a moot point.

Uhh no.. not "this". do you guys know ANYTHING about Favre and his "mentoring" desires?

If and when he actually starts against the Packers this season, all the cards will be on the line for both sides. Damn the Super Bowl. The Packers only need to win two games this season.

He had 101% support of the entire state of Wisconsin. At this point I think his loved about as much as the plague right now around here. NOBODY likes or respects him at all.
