Anyone have it? How many times have you used any of the benefits? The $60 membership cost only includes one person, is that correct? So it'd be another $30 to include the wife. Is there any hot deals that one could get the membership at a reduced cost?

The benefits provided with membership are very good. It gives you peace of mind for a nominal fee. I've used their services many times through the years and have always been happy.

edit: As for number of times I've used the benefits, I would say around 8-10 times in the past 4 years. I've had my car towed, keys retrieved from my car when I locked myself out, battery jumps, and gasoline retrieval. They come within 30 minutes so there isn't much waiting.

Does that 30% combine with coupons or other offers or is that off full retail price?

I locked myself out (yeah I know, its stupid of me ;)) last Feb. during a snowstorm, that too at a gas station , lights on , battery went dead. Called up AAA. They sent someone out who opened the door , and jump started the car. I got my money's worth in a single day..

Been a member since Nov. 2002.

The last time I called them they said it would be an hour. Nobody showed. A nice State Trooper lady let us borrow her slim jim (she didn't know how to use it). When we got the truck open I asked her if she needed to see any ID or anything. Her words "If its stolen, have fun" :)

If you go on long drives, worth it

If you go to amusement parks, many accept it
Many eye glass shops accept it
Some restaraunts accept it

Even if one year you don't get your money's worth, the day the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and someone comes within 30 minutes or an hour to save you, you'll get your money's worth

Yeah, that's what got me looking actually, I'd save ~$20 by having a membership on my next trip. About a month ago I had a flat on I20 outside of atlanta in which I had to pay someone $40 to come out and jack the car up and put the spare on. I would have done it myself but I didn't have much room between the tire and 70+MPH heavy traffic. That was the first time I'd ever required that type of assistance in my 12 years of driving.

you don't really *have* to, i think it's only for occasions where the tow truck needs help to identify you on a parking lot with hundreds of cars.

If you don't wanna shell out the $50 all at once (like for a trip), Sprint offers roadside assistance service for $5 a month. Subscribe for a month, go on your trip, then cancel. :D

Not necessary. I have seen quite a few dumba$$ drivers who have the AAA sticker and I feel its stupid to be a member of an organization with such idiots as fellow-members. :)

I am a member of AAA for 8 years now.. (according to my card) though I am actually in year 7 not year 8 (after 4 years they issue cards every 2 years).

I have used it over time.. its been worth my time.. I use AAA for DMV stuff and discounts and even for lock out stuff.. its been worth it.

totally worth it. we couldn't jump my bf's car for some reason so AAA came and jumped it for us, and if they couldn't, would have towed it for us.

i also use the discounts whenever i can.

check with your insurance company on what roadside assistance / towing insurance costs, and if they offer it. some companies offer it for 10$ or so per 6 months. then if you do need a tow you submit the receipt to them.

AAA is incredibly useful, especially against low flying aircraft that may have ECM pods.

My VW came with free lifetime roadside assistance, i've used it twice and both times were very quick.
