1680x1050 HDR 0xAA 16xAF
Min: 6
Max: 116
Average: 37.82

1680x1050 HDR 16xSSAA 16xAF
Min: 12
Max: 64
Average: 30.747

No way you'd get the frame rates with 16xSS.

Do you mean 16xCSAA? (the C and S key are pretty close).
7fps isn't free but it's pretty good :p

And I told you all it worked (with 97.92 or above) :D

Possibly the profile isn't being used right or something like that. I really don't know. Maybe it was pointing to the wrong exe or not pointing to one at all??

But if it works then just go with what works, ya know? :)

Isn't 16xCSAA the same as 16xQ? I pretty certain I enabled transparency AA and set it to supersampling. I'll rerun the benchie, not sure what to expect.

Oh, yea, TRSS is different. I thought you meant regular good old SS.

16xCSAA is different from 16xQ.

16xCSAA, AFAIK (and according to BFG10k) has 4xMSAA plus 12xCSAA.
16xQ is 8xMSAA (much larger burden on graphics card), and 8x/12xCSAA.

So if you want more performance with about the same IQ, then go with 16xCSAA. You can look at a comparison of performance here.

In the nvidia CP, I have it set to 16xQ and supersampling.

Does that look like 16xAA to you guys?

[edit]Screenshot fixed.

It looks pretty dam good. I really can't tell what AA is on but it does look like there is AA (probably your 16x)

So another annoying question: Does this work in Vista?

Only one way to find out. My guess is it should but you might want to have the latest driver which is the 100.95 (which nvidia released in 32/64bit for both XP and Vista).

Thanks for that wizboy. That article was a good read. Couldn't tell the difference between 16xAA and 16xQ though. x)

16xCSAA using regular 4xMSAA+12xCSAA (so not that much more of a performance hit then 4xMSAA (or so they say).

16xQ has true 8xMSAA. In other words it has a much larger performance hit then 16xCSAA. I'd recommend using 8xCSAA or 16xCSAA if you can. I really don't know why anyone would use 16xQ unless it was on some really really old game.

In older games, I would run the xS modes.

I dont have a Nvidia card, so I dont know exactly how to do it, but in the NVCP or nHancer make sure you use 16 or 8 xS.

16xQ will give you 8xMSAA, but 16xS or 8xS will give you super sampling.

No, especially not when running TrSS.

With TrSS + 16xQ you'll get eight super-samples in your vegetation but only four with TrSS + 16x. This'll make a colossal performance difference in something like Oblivion.

Also FYI if you can run 16xQ fast enough it's better to use 8xS since it'll run faster and generally look better too.
