AA & AF

This has most likely been posted before but I cant find anything on it. Is it better to turn on AA & AF in games or in the control panel, and what happens when you have it on in both?

Doesn't matter at all. Just do whatever you want. But remember, the control panel overrides any setting in a game. If 4X aa is on in the control panel and off in a game, 4xaa will be enabled in that game.

Hmm! so its better to just leave it on in control panel. What if you have 4xaa in CP and 8xaa in the game, would the game aa overide the CP aa ?

The control panel AA ALWAYS overrides the game setting. It does not matter what you set in a game, if the control panel contradicts a setting, the control panel setting is the one that ALWAYS gets put into play. 4X aa in the control panel and 8XAA in the game equals 4X aa in the game.

In certain cases (e.g. Doon3 AF, Halo AA) the game overrides the control panel.

What I usually do is set the settings from within the game, that way I can use different settings for each game if I need to. Usually, I only use the CP settings if the game does not support AA or AF. Then I set up a profile for that one game in the CP.

That is because in the control panel, there is no way to force OFF AA/AF, only application preference. But the control panel cannot be overridden if you set a specific amount of aa/af.

For compatability reasons, you should turn it on it the game, not in the control panel.

I force it on at the control panel in anycase.
want to make the best use of the card anyway
