Kind of interesting...

http://maps.a9.com/

But look at: http://maps.a9.com/?ypLoc=650%20Broadway%2C%20San%20Diego%2C%20CA for example. Note lower right where there's camera shots of the intersection. They're calling it "Block View". Only select cities have it.

Cities that have Block View include:

New York, NY
Los Angeles, CA
Dallas, TX
San Francisco, CA
San Jose, CA
Boston, MA
Seattle, WA
Portland, OR
Denver, CO
Atlanta, GA
Chicago, IL
Washington, DC
Phoenix, AZ
Houston, TX
Miami, FL
Fargo, ND
Austin, TX
Philadelphia, PA
San Diego, CA
Detroit, MI
Salt Lake City, UT
Sacramento, CA
Long Beach, CA
Reno, NV

The maps themselves are nothing major -- just mapquest apparently.

If this is a repost, I apologize - I didn't see it in a search.

Where are street level pictures on google maps? All I see are maps or satellite pictures. Where are the pictures of the fronts of buildings, people, cars, etc?

BTW, I think this could come in handy for seeing what's at an address say from a website that says it's "ABC computers". You pull up the address here, and it's an apartment complex or worse -- some mailbox type place. Or here's a typical one, some new webhost with "their new datacenter" - which is in the basement...

taken from an old ATOT thread back in january - link

In short, Manber and co. (urged on by Jeff Bezos, who Manber says was "very involved") strapped GPS-enabled digital video camera-cum-terabyte server rigs to the top of a bunch of SUVs, then drove them around the commercial areas of major US metropolitan areas, recording what then became composite still pictures of entire cities, one address at a time. A9 took more than 20 million images of 14 million+ businesses across ten cities (more are coming soon), then created a local search application they call Block View.

It was 20 million images when it was 10 cities. It's now 24 cities, so it's likely to be getting pretty close to 50 million images. Then all 50 million are indexed to addresses. And you can get any of them by putting in an address. But that's not impressive? Please tell us what you do for a living, we want to be impressed...

Please tell me it's not http://www.sscustomcomputers.com/ Same town as you... hmm...

A computer company running PostNuke for their website? I'm impressed.

Wait you're not one of those like I was mentioning a few posts ago... running a computer company from their basement and are afraid the world will find out are you? No images for Mt Vernon, OH. But google's satellite image for the registrant's address seems awfully green to be a commercial area...
