Alright, first things let it be known that this is my first attempt at building my own computer.
Here is my setup:
Asus A8V Deluxe
Athlon 64 3500+ (withZalman cpu fan + heatsink)
2x512mb Kingston Hyperx 400mhz
Sparkle 550w
74gb WD 10,000rpm
250gb WD 7200rpm
dvd r/rw and cdrw
Audigy 2 sound card
6800gt (will have soon)
Ok so first i connected everything, all power, HDDs (to the SATA 1 and 2 ports). Connected the roms on the same IDE cable and plugged them into the secondary IDE. I put my old geforce fx 5200 vid card into the computer.
Then i noticed that my PSU had a 24 pin mobo connector. So i bought a 24 to 20 pin adaptor and plugged my mobo in. My psu also has 8 pins for the cpu connector (i got the wrong one... this one was made for dual xeons, but i was trying to make this work). So i just plugged the left 4 pins in (they fit the mobo shapes) and tried to turn it on. Everything started and went for about .25 secs (all fand turned on) and then went dead. I set all my jumper settings to default.... same problem. However the green light is always on in the lower left corner of the mobo.
Then i unplugged everything except the cpu, mobo, vid card, and the cup fan. Didn't turn on (but little green light (LGL) did).
Then i took my really old TNT2 rage vid card and put it in...... nothing but the LGL.
Then i took a 200w psu from my sisters computer and connected the cpu (onmly 4 pin) and the mobo. it turned on for 5-6 secs then turned off.... but LGL was still on.
Then i switched the jumper to clear CMOS and then tried to turn it on.... nothing at all but LGL.
then i put jumper back and tried turning it on.... nothing but LGL.
Then i posted on these forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea what else to do
