Howdy
just built my new beast and im having this problem when installing a 2nd HD
my main is a WD 80 gig HD , and my 2nd im tiring to install is a maxtor ma98196h8 80 gig
everytime i try to install this drive , have tried the jumpers in more then one spot and none at all (currently tring none ) i get this error
<windows root> \system32\hal.dll. says i need to install this file
ok now the funny part is this only happens when i have a 2nd HD installed other then that the WD drive boots up fine

1 gig corsair xms
ATI 9700 pro
problem HD maxtor 80 gig
any fingers pointed ni the right direction would be great i dont mind doing my own homework but im kinda at a stand still on this one

O hey more to the story , at first i had a 8 gig maxtor running as my master with XP pro on it , and the maxtor 80 gig as slave with no problems
the 8 gig had xp on it from before and was reconized by MOBO and sefl installed mostly
after seeing this i removed my WD 80 gig from my old cpu and tossed it in , it also reconized everything and ran fine by itself with out having to reinstall windows
thought this info might be of value
current HD settings
WD as master has jumper in center
Maxtor has no jumpers on it
