Is this a newly build system?
Are you trying to put new hardware into a system with an old Windows install or are you installing Windows fresh?

Oh lets talk about how stupid I am.... I have spent at least 8 hours trying to figure out what is wrong with this thing... taking things apart... putting them back together... I guess you cant use the previously installed windows for my old system! I reinstalled and it appears to be working... UGH 🙁 (in a good way I guess)

New question. When I installed WINXP on the new comp, I just added a second OS on the same partition, in a different folder, Windows1. Would you happen to know how to retrieve my old "My Documents"? Its only letting me get into my own profile.

I presume there is a folder some where that has your old 'My Documents.' I'm not sure how windows organizes everything when there are two Windows installs on the same partition. You might try going to "My Computer" and then clicking on "Documents and Settings." Within that folder you should see a handful of folders. Windows uses these folders to hold settings and data for different users. Ordinarily "My Documents" folders is found right inside this folder.

The default installation for Windows user profiles and settings is "C:\Documents and Settings". It may be both your Windows installations are sharing this.

You may also need to unhide hidden files and directories under Folder Options (see: Windows Explorer -- TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW tab > ADVANCED SETTINGS panel) It also makes it easier to view the file paths, so select to show the PATH.

You may also need Administrator privileges to view other user profiles, files, and directories.

Sonic.
