A8V Alternatives

Not literally, but somehow I ended up ordering an Asus A8V after I'd decided that my next system would be of the PCI-Express variety. Now I've got this board, but I've yet to order my video card. I'm trying to decide whether to return it, and pickup a PCI-E compliant board instead. I know the performance difference between AGP and PCI-E are nominal, but thinking ahead, I'd like to know that I might be able to reuse whatever video card I get down the road. (Even though AGP will be around for awhile) ... and it seems like many of the cards I'm looking for are PCI-E only. (X800, 6800GT w/ dual DVI, etc.).

What's a comparable PCI-Express motherboard that I should consider to replace this still retail-boxed A8V? (Or am I being completely idiotic to consider doing this just for PCI-E?)

Thanks,

If you are a gamer that upgrades video cards often for the highest frame rates, best go with Pci-express.

If you only change video cards every 3 years, then the current and soon coming agp ceiling shouldn't be too limiting.

I personally just think it wise to move to pci-e, especially if you are considering possibly upgrading again later this year or sometime next. This should be especially true since you are considering a mobo.

current games cant even fully saturate the AGP bandwidth....only advantage of PCI-E boards is the nForce 4 SLI....even so, thats gonna cost you 1000+ for the two videocards....holy sheisse....not worth it...agp is in more abundance, and cheaper....works fine, I can run HL2 w/o a hitch.
