I am thinking about picking up this board for a new build. General home/gaming/Web type system.

I am looking to put in
7800GT or 6800GS single video card. I have no desire to do double cards.
250 GB Sata HD. Probably a second HD later.
DVD burner, add a second later.
AMD 3700+ San Diego CPU.
Maybe a sound card, maybe not!!!

My question is about a PSU. Thinking about a Fortron or Antec 500-550 watt.
Maybe a Sparkle. The Sparkle is single rail I believe.
Do I need a dual rail PSU? Or for that matter does anyone need dual rail?

Short answer, no. The dual lines, the way I read this info, is more of a safety regulation. Total +12V amps is more important.

You might read it differently, though!

EDIT: I just ordered one of these this morning, and will be powering it with a Neopower 480 by Antec, 32A at +12V total. I'm not going to do dual GPUs for a LONG time, if ever, and my collection of drives is similar to your plans. I'll probably get the system rebuilt by Sunday, results then!

The Egg!

Of course, their 10hr sale seems to have caused such a demand spike that their secure server is kaput... I splurged on overnight shipping so I'd have the board tomorrow, and I want to get my tracking number, but Firefox is just banging its head against the wall created by 1000s of geeks spending zillions of bucks at Newegg :)
