A8R-MVP and 7800gt

I have a a8r-mvp with a 7800GT in the blue Pci-e x16 slot,
there is a black card fully inserted in the other pci-e x16 slot

in the bios, it is set to single VGA card

but, every program I use (CPU-Z , everest )
tells me that my pci-e is running at 8x, not at 16x

tell me how to make it run at 16x please or I'll burn asus warehouse!

thanks for your help.

Hmm, good to see your OC worked out well 🙂

I'm honestly not sure on this one, & i'm feeling too lazy to restart my system to dig around in the bios.

Just to let you know though, the performance difference is likely around 0.1%. AFAIK, no PCI-e cards now utilize the full bandwidth an 8x slot offers, nevermind a 16x slot.

Seriously though, if it bothers you, just fire off an email to Asus.

Next time i restart, i'll look around in teh bios & see what i can find.

did you try switching the positions of the video card/shadow card? On my At8, the video card has to be on bottom for single use in order to have x16 lanes.

He already has it correctly set up.

Blue lower slot = single card
Black upper slot = shadow card.

I'd bet it's a bios setting.

Aight, the only thing i could see in the bios relating to PCI-e lane/slot config is under:

Advanced > Chipset > Dual Slot Config.
Mine was set to auto & it's working @ 16x

Try seeing what yours is set as, & if auto is giving you 8x, try the single card setting.
