I made this small utility after getting the "Bad CMOS Checksum" error while altering some settings in the BIOS. I found an earlier thread here discussing the same problem, and wanted to post the utility here along with an explanation of the issue...
After getting the error the BIOS should start searching for the ROM file on a floppy or CD. If you have a floppy drive and the ROM for the version you have flashed... great, because ultimately that's what you are going to need to do. I was left to flash the orignal BIOS found on the CD supplied with the board. The problem with this is the board is still using the checksum for whatever BIOS was flashed before it crashed, so you would need to reflash the newer BIOS back onto the board. So here is all you should need to do to fix this problem:
1. Download and burn this CD image: http://www.sendover.com/SXHN-CB-YWM2 . Currently supports BIOS 0804, 0805, 0903, and 1009
2. Shut the computer down and unplug any connected hard drives.
3. Start the computer back up with the CD in the drive.
4. When you get to the command prompt type 'dir' to show a listing of the ROM files on the disc.
5. All you need now is one command: afudos /i0000.ROM where 0000 is replaced by the name of the ROM you are flashing. So when looking at the entire command it should look something like this: C:\afudos /i1009.ROM
That should be it. You may need to shut the computer down after, remove the CMOS battery, and reset the ROM memory using the jumper located at the top-right of the battery. Something else of note... In my case the crash also knocked out the Master Boot Record on the hard drive, but running CHKDSK from a program like NTFS Professional should fix this no problem. You should be able to find apps like this on Hiren's BootCD or the Ultimate Boot CD.
